Irrigation installation at Imlauer Schloss Pichlarn
In March 2024, we began installing a state-of-the-art irrigation system at the Imlauer Schloss Pichlarn, a luxury 5-star resort in the Austrian Alps. As part of a major renovation of the entire golf course, a new short game area is also being developed.
Olazabal Design, led by architect Anton Ortner, is overseeing the redesign, while agronomist Carlos Arroyal and TAS work closely with the design team. Our role focused on implementing an advanced irrigation system across all 18 holes and the short game area, designed by EIGCA Associate Giles Wardle from Irriplan. With his design and multiple site visits, we ensured a smooth installation.
The new system, featuring Rain Bird’s IC System and CirrusPRO Central Control, replaced a simpler setup and now provides precise, automated water management. Due to the course’s varied terrain, the system required two pumping stations with different pressures, designed and built by Östorps and managed by SMART pump controls. An additional independent water source was set up to support the short game area and driving range.
Despite the challenges of working around ongoing play and weekend tournaments, our work on the 18-hole course was completed by July, followed by the short game area in August. We look forward to seeing the new irrigation system enhance the playing experience at Imlauer Schloss Pichlarn.
